Since we do not encourage fictional data, the user is being contacted asking that the data be removed. Its perhaps a fun prank but not a helpful addition to OSM. Please follow the wiki guidance at osm.wiki/Vandalism if you suspect similar activity. Cheers.

Deleted. OSM is for real data only. Perhaps we should create an unstreetmap.org for fictitious data?

(This is almost certainly copyrighted as well.)

andrewpmk, why didn't you wait for the user to remove it himself? Deleting "just because" is not nice in my opinion, I would like OSM not to turn into a unfriendly power fight like Wikipedia.

HannesHH: because it's not there. Therefore /anyone/ is 100% within their rights to delete it without question. The only issue here is making sure it doesn't happen again, and that that user hasn't done anything else (but we know that thanks to changeset history).

It had been there 2 days already, there was no good reason to keep it around.

randomjunk: In this particular case this seems to have been a prank by a sockpuppet of an experienced OSM user, as witnessed by - among other things - a circular 12 nautical mile administrative zone, which incidentally is still on the map.

But generally speaking it's good to ask people to fix things they get wrong themselves, even if that means waiting a bit more. The resulting learning experience is often very useful for new contributors and often avoids hurt feelings people may have when they see their work deleted. Even if it doesn't align with the goals of the project.

It's little stuff like that which helps to maintain a friendlier atmosphere than the (English) Wikipedia.
