Simple Workflow for Updating OSM Based on GPX Files
Posted by Evgeny Arbatov on 10 February 2026 in English.I mainly edit OSM based on GPX files from my runs. I use JOSM. I created a simple script to extract a buffered area around my GPX files to make sure I don’t accidentally edit parts of OSM I don’t intend to. See this Github Gist for the source.

Did you know if you right click on a GPX layer in JOSM you can select download along? It may not be as tight as you want, but you can lower the maximum area to make the buffer tighter.
