A new tag

Posted by Yoshinion on 16 September 2016 in English.

Because I cannot sign up for the osm wiki, I guess that I will have to suggest it here:

approximate=yes

## to be used when the geometry of the area/line is approximate ## depreciates comment=location_approximate

needs_survey=yes

## to be used when a local survey is necessary

Also, the railway=light_rail needs a “easy key-value” changer like the normal railway=rail…

All measurements are approximate. Everything is open to edit and so may be improved in the future. If you knowingly add something roughly right then a commonly used tag to show that it needs updating is fixme. This works well.

Duh.

Usually most things that do are not relevant for the renderer are added in either ‘note=’ or ‘fixme=’. Personally I don’t see why that wouldn’t work for this. e.g. ‘note=approximation’

Yes, use fixme=needs survey instead of creating a new tag - then it will be picked up by QA tools like keepright and osmose.
