What if I shorten the motorway sections to end exactly at the intersections connecting them to the primary roads? My suggestion is for the motorway to end at osm.org/go/WL7kRfgbX--?m= (east) and osm.org/go/WL7Oyj_8P--?m= (west).

Thanks, and have a nice day (and life)! Bless you!

You’ve changed Whoop-Up Drive into a highway=motorway. However, since this doesn’t appear to be an official motorway, a better tagging might be highway=primary + motorroad=yes, and I want to change Whoop-Up Drive into this tagging.

Reverted my changes, Old US Route 66 is now highway=primary again: changeset/176936365

Interesting – I am unable to see a mini roundabout on May 2021 Bing Streetside and March–July 2024 Bing Aerial imagery. Maybe it has been built just weeks to months after the aerial imagery was taken.

One more thing: You specified direction=clockwise, which is usually found in countries with left-hand traffic and therefore unusual for the United States, where direction=anticlockwise is the norm.

176863715 about 1 month ago

Should I change the Old US Route 66 back to primary, then?

152866399 about 1 month ago

Doug Shidell, are you sure there’s even a mini roundabout here to begin with? Cannot see one on 2024 aerial imagery.

For your info: The access restrictions you described don’t warrant a highway=motorway tag. In the future, please use motorroad=yes instead, with bicycle=no and foot=no for good measure (as I did in my changeset: changeset/176865082).

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap! As you noticed, anyone with an account can edit the roads and other map features.

You’ve changed the residential road to be a trunk road – you were probably experimenting and accidentally published the edit to the public map. If you did this on purpose, e.g. if this road is really important to you, it is incorrect: highway=trunk is the OpenStreetMap tag for an expressway (not quite a motorway, but close). You can read more about it here: osm.wiki/ES:Tag:highway=trunk

To make yourself more familiar with the matter, I suggest you to read the Beginners’ tutorial (in Spanish): osm.wiki/ES:Beginners'_guide

Also, I have reverted (undone) your change: changeset/176823751
Please refrain from doing such edits in the future.

----

¡Hola y bienvenido a OpenStreetMap!

Además, he revertido (deshecho) su cambio: changeset/176823751

Ooh, now I get it, the main issue is the clockwise/anticlockwise confusion!

171690260 5 months ago

You’re welcome!

However, I’m still curious as to which “older software” doesn’t support standalone junction=roundabout tagging. On the Forum, you’ve already mentioned scientific studies, but here, you referred to software in particular.

Have a nice day!

171690260 5 months ago

Thanks for the info, I’ll consider this in the future.
Should I re-add oneway=yes to the roundabouts where I removed it? Or is it sufficient to leave it untouched wherever I encounter it?

[Français en dessous]

I think something went wrong at way/1427966242: The right primary road should connect to the junction center, not the footway crossing.

I’ve fixed the issue for you: changeset/171730377

----

The OSRM debug map shows that Fox Talbot Close is missing from the bike routing graph:
https://map.project-osrm.org/debug/bike.html#19.36/51.45283/-0.98215

Maybe OSRM didn’t update the bicycle routing graph yet.

Maybe access=permissive is treated like access=private for bike routing. If that’s the case, it should be reported to the OSRM developers as that doesn’t make sense.

Excuse me, but this map entry of yours doesn’t make much sense to me. What did you intend with this?
Some of my questions:
• Did you intend this to be a school (a place where students get education) or do you mean something else with “escuela”?
• What does the tag highway=rio_al_aguariaco mean?
• You specified supposedly English and Japanese names, but these are also written in Spanish.
• You added various other names which seem to be thought up by you.
• You have linked “Calle de Mejía Lequerica” as Wikipedia and Wikidata entries for this object, which is a street in Madrid, Spain – completely unrelated to this place!

You shouldn’t specify the street name in the highway=* tag – this information is already stored in the address tag addr:street=Fransisco Becerra. highway=* is supposed to be used for the type of the road itself. For example, the street next to the bar is tagged highway=residential and name=Fransisco Becerra.

I have a strong passion for fixing mistakes in the OSM database – it’s so much fun! For your information: I found your “highway=2 к8” tagging when I checked the last few pages of https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/highway#values, using overpass turbo to find the location.

osm-carto GitHub issue for this topic:
https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto/issues/1953

You may continue discussion there as long as it’s related to map rendering.

Unfortunately, it is really difficult to come to a conclusion with the osm-carto maintainers since the project is in a suboptimal state when it comes to organization and participation.
